Uses described in folk medicine:

Traditionally, the plant is used in the treatment of urinary infection, malaria, and dysentery, rheumatism, and intercostal neuralgia.

The root extract has a significant laxative effect which is due to the activities of its phytochemical constituents and this supports its use  in ethnomedicine for the treatment of gastrointestinal tract disorders. (Asian Journal of Biology 10(2): 22-26, 2020; Article no.AJOB.61412 ISSN: 2456-7124 ) The fruits, like the bark, are aromatic. They are used in the Adamawa region of Nigeria to spice food and to prepare a sort of scent; contains aromatic oils.

This Sudanese standard is formulated by the technical committee No.4 formed according to the administrative decree of the SSM0/1/A/I dated 18/8/01. It applies to Croton zambisicus.
On formulating this standard the committee has referred to international publications and works of Sudanese researchers on the subject.
